American lawmakers have introduced a so-called Stop Arming Terrorists Act that aims to protect US taxpayers’ dollars from being spent on supporting and arming international terrorist groups through covert operations and third states.

Introduced to the House on Thursday by Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), the legislature aims to put an end to the widely-reported US practice of indirectly sponsoring terrorism or cooperating with Al-Qaeda, Jabhat Fateh al-Sham or ISIS who should be barred from US funding, be it through the sale of weapons, field training, or intelligence assistance.

Speaking with CNN host Jake Tapper on Thursday evening Gabbard called for the US to end its cycle of intervention abroad, supporting President-elect Donald Trump’s “America First” policy.
