National Liberty Federation chair Everett Wilkinson released the following statement today, reacting to the House of Representatives’ vote to pass an amended version of the American Health Care Act.
“During the 2016 campaign, Republicans from President Trump to Speaker Paul Ryan to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the caucuses they head in Congress formed a guarantee that almost all Republicans have already been making since 2010: To repeal Obamacare and replace it using a method that restores health care freedom, enhances quality of care as well as the physician-patient relationship, and lowers costs for families. We praise and thank the House Freedom Caucus, President Trump and Vice President Pence for not giving up when House Leaders’s first proposition, which failed to repeal Obamacare’s costly and freedom-eroding regulations, faltered and for negotiating in good faith using their coworkers to improve that bill and pass it through the House. That is merely the initial step in a lengthy struggle to repeal former President Obama’s horrible government takeover of Obamacare. We will be watching and won’t hesitate to hold individuals liable if the Senate doesn’t make progress toward the total repeal of Obamacare.”
